Kiosk

What are the kiosk visual standards?

Recommended kiosk, Side UX, and light pole placement to keep cameras unobstructed and the customer flow clear.

📋 Overview

Proper placement of the kiosk, Side UX screen, and light pole plays an important role in item recognition accuracy and the overall customer experience. Incorrect positioning can block side cameras, cause customers’ hands or elbows to enter scanning zones, and make the setup appear unorganized from across the store.

Step 1. Kiosk Placement

Adjust your machine so the front of the kiosk is at least two inches from the edge of the table or counter.

Step 2. Side UX Placement

  • If the screen is on the right side, keep it four to five inches from the base. This prevents it from blocking the side camera.
  • If the screen is on the left side, give it more room — six to eight inches. This keeps customers’ hands and elbows out of the scanning area when they reach to pay.
  • After placement, navigate to Manage Mode → Advanced → Calibration and confirm the Side UX is not visible within the live feeds of the cameras.
⚠️

If the Side UX appears in any camera's live feed, the recognition pipeline will treat it as part of the scene. Move it further from the base until it's fully out of frame.

Step 3. Light Pole Placement

If the unit has a light pole, place it in the back right corner of the kiosk.

💡 Tips

  • After any move or visual adjustment, recalibrate the kiosk so the cameras account for the new layout.
  • Measure clearance with a tape rather than eyeballing — small differences make a big impact on recognition accuracy.
