How to Add Poses to a Container
Step-by-step instructions for adding poses to a container in Manage Mode to improve kiosk recognition.
This guide walks you through adding poses to a container item in Manage Mode — this is Step 3 of How to Set Up a Container. Poses teach the kiosk what your container looks like — the more poses you add, the more reliably the kiosk will recognize it.
Only add poses to the container item — never to the individual items attached to it. Posing individual items causes recognition issues and broken container prompts.
📸 Steps to Add Poses
Step 1. Log into Manage Mode
On the kiosk, enter Manage Mode using your manager credentials. Need a refresher? See How do I access kiosk manage mode?.
Step 2. Navigate to Items
From the Manage Mode main menu, tap Items.
Step 3. Search for the Container
Type the container's name into the search bar and locate it in the results.
Do not scan a barcode or search for individual items that belong to the container. Always search for and select the container item itself. Posing individual items will cause visual recognition issues.
Step 4. Tap on the Container Name
Tap the container item to open its posing page.
Step 5. Add at Least 20 Poses
Add at least 20 poses of the container. For best results:
- Pose the container in various positions and angles
- Include different packaging configurations that reflect how customers might fill or close the container
- Cover the full range of how the item might look when placed on the kiosk base
More poses = better recognition. 20 is the minimum — if the container uses flexible or inconsistent packaging, consider adding 30–40 poses.
Step 6. Sync the Kiosk and Test
- Back out of the posing page and exit Manage Mode
- In Manage Mode, press Sync DB to push the new poses to the kiosk
- Wait about one minute for the sync to complete
- Place the container on the kiosk base to confirm it prompts correctly
