Why is the side UX display not responding to touch?

Restore touch input on the Side UX by safely powering down both the kiosk and Side UX, reseating the Display Touch USB cable inside the Side UX, and powering everything back on.

📋 Overview

If the Side UX screen displays correctly but doesn't respond to touch, the Display Touch USB cable inside the Side UX housing has most likely come loose. Power down the kiosk and Side UX cleanly, reseat the Display Touch USB cable, then power everything back on.

⚠️

Always shut the kiosk and Side UX down fully before opening the Side UX cover. Reseating cables on a powered unit risks damaging the USB controller.

Step 1. Shut Down the Kiosk and Side UX

  1. Press and hold the circular power button on the back of the kiosk for 3–5 seconds.
  1. Unplug the power cable on the back of the kiosk.
  1. Switch the red power switch to the OFF (O) position on the back of the Side UX.
  1. Unplug the power cable on the back of the Side UX.

Step 2. Unlatch the Back of the Side UX

Use the silver latch on the back of the Side UX to open the cover and view the USB connections inside.

Step 3. Reseat the Display Touch USB Cable

  1. Locate the USB cable inside the Side UX labeled "Display Touch".
  1. Reseat the cable — unplug it for a few seconds and plug it back in.

If touch is still unresponsive, try the Display Touch USB in a different USB port. Spacing the cables out with one empty port between each tends to be more reliable than packing them next to each other.

Step 4. Turn the Kiosk and Side UX Back On

  1. Switch the red power switch to the ON (I) position on the back of the Side UX.
  1. Plug the Side UX power cable back in.
  1. Plug the kiosk power cable back in.
  1. Press and release the circular power button on the back of the kiosk.

💡 Tips

  • Try plugging the Display Touch USB into a different USB port if reseating in the same port doesn't help.
  • Keep an empty USB port between each cable inside the Side UX — packed cables can dislodge each other when the cover is closed.
