How to Add Items to a Visual Checkout Station
Add new or existing menu items to a Visual Checkout Station in Creator — including creating a category, selecting items, and making sure each tile has a photo.

Add items to a Visual Checkout Station by creating a category and selecting items from your menu.
- Each item needs a photo for it to display correctly on the kiosk.

⚙️ How to Add Items to a Visual Checkout Station
Step 1. Open the station in Creator
- Go to creator.mashgin.com and log in
- Confirm the correct location is selected at the top
- In the left sidebar, click the Visual Checkout Station you want to edit
Step 2. Add items to the category
- Inside the category, click Add Item ➕
- Choose Existing Item to pick from your menu, or New Item to create one from scratch
- Fill in the item details and click Create
- Repeat for each item
Step 3. Add to the options group
- Select the Option Group inside of the item.
- Add Options to the Group, each of these will be Items from the existing menu.
- Confirm the Option Group Type
- Single Select: Only able to select one of the options per prompt.
- Multi Select: Can select more than one option (i.e. Impossible Burger and Turkey Burger )
- Set limits to the item quantity: Press the # symbol to restrict customers from adding multiple of any single item in one prompt.
Step 4. Add a photo to each item
Every item needs a photo or it will appear as a blank tile on the kiosk.

Step 5. Verify on the kiosk
- Wait 1–2 minutes for Creator to sync
- Confirm the new item tiles appear on the kiosk grid
- If items aren't showing, go to Manage Mode → Sync DB
🛠️ Troubleshooting
Item isn't showing on the kiosk
Issue: Item was added in Creator but isn't visible on the kiosk.
Fix: Confirm the station Status is Active, then wait 1–2 minutes or use Manage Mode → Sync DB.
Item tile shows blank
Issue: Tile appears on the grid but has no image.
Fix: Upload a photo in Creator — see How to Add Photo to Visual Checkout Station Item.
Can't find an item when searching
Issue: Item doesn't appear when adding an existing item.
Fix: Confirm the item exists in your menu at this location and is set to Active.
