Kiosk Zero: How to Setup Receipt Rules
Step-by-step guide for setting up printer rules on Kiosk Zero — routing kitchen receipts to a kitchen printer and configuring customer receipt options.

This guide walks you through setting up printer rules on Kiosk Zero. Printer rules control how receipts are routed — which printer handles kitchen orders and how customer receipts are generated.
There are two types of printer rules you may need to configure:
- Kitchen Receipt Rules — Route printed order tickets to your kitchen printer so kitchen staff can see incoming orders.
- Customer Receipt Rules — Configure how customers receive their receipt (with or without a QR code for kiosk payment).
🧭 Getting to Printer Rules
- Enter Manager Mode on the Kiosk Zero tablet.
- Tap Settings from the Manager Mode menu.
- Tap Printer Rules.

🍳 Setting Up a Kitchen Receipt Rule
Create a kitchen receipt rule so your kitchen printer receives a printed order ticket every time an order is placed.
Skip this section if your kitchen uses a KDS (Kitchen Display System) tablet. Kitchen order routing is configured on the KDS tablet, not here.
- On the Printer Rules screen, tap + Add Rule.
- Under Template, select Kitchen.
- Under Stations, choose which station(s) should trigger a kitchen ticket:
- All — prints a ticket for every order, regardless of station.
- Specific station — prints only orders from that station.
- Under Printer, select your kitchen printer from the list.
- Tap Save (or Done) to confirm the rule.

🧾 Setting Up a Customer Receipt Rule
Configure how customer receipts print at the end of an order. Most Kiosk Zero deployments use a Customer + QR receipt, which prints a receipt with a QR code that the customer scans to pay at the Mashgin kiosk.
- On the Printer Rules screen, tap + Add Rule.
- Under Template, select:
- Customer + QR — prints a receipt with a scannable QR code linking to kiosk payment.
- Customer — prints a standard receipt without a QR code.
- Under Printer, select the receipt printer.
- Tap Save (or Done) to confirm the rule.
