How to Install a Printer
Step-by-step guide for setting up a new thermal receipt printer on a Mashgin kiosk, from unboxing through running a test print.
📋 Overview
Use this guide when installing a new thermal receipt printer on a Mashgin kiosk. The process covers mounting the power brick inside the Side UX, routing and connecting cables, loading paper, and running a test print to confirm everything is working.
🔧 Installation Steps
Step 1. Unbox & Verify Parts
Remove the printer from its box and confirm all components are included:
- Printer
- USB cable
- Power brick and cable
- Starter paper roll
- Plastic cylindrical piece (used to hold the paper roll in place)
Step 2. Insert Power Brick & Feed Cables
- Open the top latch of the Side UX.
- Remove the four screws holding the silver metal housing in place.
- Remove the silver metal housing.
- Attach the power adapter inside the Side UX to the power brick.
- Place the power brick under the silver metal housing.
- Secure the housing back in place with the four screws.
- Feed the cable through the holes on the side of the Side UX.

Step 3. Connect the Cables to the Printer
Connect both the USB cable and the power cable into their respective ports on the back of the printer.

Step 4. Connect the Printer USB Cable to the Kiosk
Connect the printer’s USB cable to the designated port on the back of the kiosk — the second USB port below the power button.

Step 5. Load Printer Paper

Step 6. Turn the Printer On
Switch the power button on the back of the printer to the ON (I) position.

Step 7. Test Feed & Print
- Press the Feed button on the top of the printer to advance a small amount of paper through the slot.
- Go to Manager Mode → Advanced → QC Scripts → Printer.
- Press Print Test Page.
