Power Counter: Setting Up Peripherals
Connect a scanner, credit card reader, printer, or scale to the Power Counter, and learn which USB ports are available.
📋 Overview
The Power Counter supports the same peripherals as the Mashgin kiosk — barcode scanners, credit card readers, receipt printers, and weigh scales. This article covers where each one connects and how to manage the cables.
🔌 Available USB Ports
- Both displays have two USB 3.0 ports directly on the back, plus concealed USB 3.0 ports behind a cover on the right side.
- On the Power Counter Mini (no secondary display), the 2nd Display USB port is also free for any peripheral.
📷 Scanner
- Barcode scanners are built in under each display (the chin scanner) — no setup required.
- A hand scanner can be plugged into any of the USB 3.0 ports on the display.
- To remove a chin scanner: remove the two screws holding it in place and disconnect it from its USB-C port.

💳 Credit Card Reader
Step 1. Mount the reader
- There are two mounting points on the back of each display — confirm which mount you're using.
- Secure the mount with three of the provided credit card mounting screws (6 screws and 2 mounts are included).

Step 2. Route the cables
- Tuck the reader cable between the reader and the display for clean cable management.
- Route excess cable through the cabling hole and connect the USB end to the concealed USB 3.0 port on the display.
- Route the power end back through the USB cabling hole.
🧾 Printer
Connect the receipt printer to any available USB port. On the Power Counter Mini or Single Screen Power Counter, the 2nd Display USB port is a good choice. Cable management varies by site.
⚖️ Scale
Route the weigh scale cable to any available USB port.
