Power Counter
Power Counter: Assembly & Installation Guide
Assemble the Power Counter v0.6 — site requirements, camera arm installation, cable management, and both Side UX placement options.
📋 Overview
Assembling the Power Counter has two parts: building the main unit (base + camera arms), then setting up the Side UX displays. The only tool you need is a Phillips head screwdriver — an M6 hex wrench is included in the Side UX kit.
📏 Site Requirements
- Counter footprint: minimum 35" W x 24" D x 24" H (89 x 61 x 61 cm). Recommended: 44" x 24" with the optional receipt printer and weigh scale, or 40" x 24" without them.
- Counter height: 32"–36" (34"–36" standard; 32"–34" lower-height option), with a 26" minimum overhead clearance.
- Power: 1 outlet per unit,
- 1 additional outlet for the credit card reader
- 1 additional outlet for printers.
- Network: 1 wired Ethernet port per unit, plus 1 additional port if the credit card reader is not USB-connected.
🛠️ Assembling the Main Unit
Step 1. Attach the camera arms
- Unpack the base and both camera arms.
- Confirm which camera arm goes on which side — each cable's label must match the corresponding label on the base.
- Guide the cables through the opening, align the arm's bottom holes with the 6 holes on the side of the base, and drive the 6 provided screws per arm (12 screws total).
‼️ Ensure the camera screws are tight; otherwise, the cameras will move.

Step 2. Manage the base cables
- Route the cables labeled BASE USB 1, BASE USB 2, and BASE POWER out through the side where the Side UX will sit.
- Plug each camera-arm cable into the matching labeled USB port.
- Secure the cables with the included zip ties and cable holders, keeping them below the raised center section so the cover doesn't pinch them.

Step 3. Verify the cover fits the base
- Set the Base Cover so the "Place Items Here" text aligns directly over the USB hub — it holds magnetically, no screws needed.
- Confirm the base sits flat and doesn’t rock when weight is added.
- If the base is not sitting flat, remove it and make sure there are no cables blocking the center plate.

Confirm the base sits flat and no cables are being pinched. Pinched or loose camera-arm cables are the most common assembly issue.
🖥️ Setting Up the Side UX — Option 1 (One Screen)
Step 1. Prepare the Side UX – Main
- Start with the box labeled Side UX WITH MiniPC and use the foam lid as a work surface. Lay the unit on its side.
- Install the rear rubber feet over the mounting holes with the provided screws. Remove the two front rubber feet and set them aside.
- Install the counterbalance on the bottom front, aligning its four holes, and secure it with the four screws fitted with blue thread-locking fasteners.
- Reattach the front rubber feet into the two front holes on the counterbalance.

Step 2. Connect the display cables
Connect the three cables labeled 2nd Display HDMI, 2nd Display USB, and 2nd Display Power to their matching ports.
- Base USB: There are the two USB cables coming from the base
- Either port will work for these.
- Base Power: Make sure this cable firmly connects; it should have a tab that locks into place.

Step 3. Attach Card Reader Mount + Peripherals
- Attach the included card reader mount in one of two mounting positions.
- The bottom position is preferred for ADA compliance.

- Connect extra peripherals (Scanner, Printer) to the USB ports on the back of the display.

🖥️ Setting Up the Side UX — Option 2 (Two Screens)
Step 1. Slide the halves together
Place both halves on their sides, slide them together, then stand the assembled unit upright. Counterbalances are optional in this configuration (same installation steps as Option 1 if used).

Step 2. Connect the display cables
Open the magnetic cover on the Side UX – Secondary to access the cables, then connect 2nd Display HDMI, 2nd Display USB, and 2nd Display Power.
