Kiosk
Why is the side UX display flickering or only showing half the screen?
Resolve a flickering or half-screen Side UX display by reseating the HDMI cables on the kiosk and inside the Side UX housing, then power cycling.
๐ Overview
A Side UX screen that flickers or only renders half the picture is almost always a video signal issue โ either the HDMI cable on the back of the kiosk or the HDMI extension inside the Side UX housing has worked loose. Reseat both cables; if that doesn't clear it, power cycle the kiosk.
Step 1. Reseat the Display HDMI Cable
- Reseat the Side UX HDMI cable on the back of the kiosk (usually the top HDMI cable) โ unplug it for a few seconds and plug it back in.
- Use the silver latch on the back of the Side UX to open the cover.
- Inside the Side UX, reseat the HDMI extension cable.

Step 2. Power Cycle the Kiosk
If the screen still flickers or shows only half the picture after reseating, fully power cycle the kiosk. Follow the steps in How do I power cycle the kiosk?.
๐ก Tips
- Push HDMI connectors firmly until they click โ a partially seated HDMI is the most common cause of half-screen rendering.
- If the same Side UX flickers again within a week of being reseated, the HDMI cable or extension is likely damaged. Replace the cable rather than reseating again.
