Power Counter

Power Counter: Overview & Versions

Learn what the Power Counter is, its key components, and the differences between the attached, unattached, and Mini configurations.

📋 Overview

  • Power Counter: Mashgin's countertop self-checkout unit, designed for locations where staff assist customers from the other side of the counter.
  • It uses the same camera-based item recognition as the Mashgin kiosk in a compact, counter-mounted form factor.

🧩 Key Components

  • Base Board — the "Place Items Here" scan surface where customers set their items. A magnetic Base Board Cover sits on top (no screws required).
  • Camera Arms (x2) — mounted on either side of the base; these house the cameras that recognize items.
  • Side UX – Main — a 15.6-inch touchscreen display and stand that houses the main computer.
  • Side UX – Secondary — a second 15.6-inch display and stand (no computer inside).

🧱 Configurations & Versions

Side UX placement options

  • Attached (Two Screens)— the two display halves slide together into a single unit. They fit loosely by design and do not require fastening to each other.
    • The second screen is for staff to assist customers.
  • Unattached (Single Screen) — the displays sit apart, connected with the included extension cables.

Power Counter Mini

The Power Counter Mini is a single-display configuration with no secondary display. This frees up the 2nd Display USB connection for additional peripherals such as a receipt printer.

Hardware versions

The current hardware version is v0.6. Some earlier deployments use v0.5 — the components and procedures are largely the same.

💡 Good to Know

  • Sound plays through only one of the two displays — this is expected behavior.
  • Indicator lights are built into the base, the camera arms, and the displays — no separate indicator light needs to be installed.

📦 Included Accessories

  • Credit card reader mounts (x2) with mounting screws
  • Counterbalances
  • Calibration board
  • Cable management kit
