Kiosk Zero
Kiosk Zero: Day Part Management
How dayparts work on Kiosk Zero — configuring the Auto vs. Manual Day Parts setting in Manager Mode, auto-close behavior when a daypart ends, and how to troubleshoot a station that’s not showing items.
📋 Overview
Day Parts are time-based segments that control which menu items and stations appear during different parts of the day — for example, Breakfast from 7–10 AM and Lunch from 10 AM–2 PM. On Kiosk Zero, Day Part windows are defined in Creator, and the kiosk determines what to display based on the Day Parts setting in Manager Mode.
Coming from Byte? Byte had a separate “Meals” section in Order Mode settings. On Kiosk Zero, the Day Parts control lives in Manager Mode → Settings → Day Parts (under the Checkout Settings section). The behavior is the same — Auto is still the recommended default.
🗓️ Day Parts Setting in Manager Mode
The Day Parts setting controls how the kiosk decides which menu items and stations to display as time progresses. It is located in Manager Mode under the Checkout Settings section.
To navigate here: Manager Mode → Settings → Day Parts (in the Checkout Settings section)
Step 1. Choose Auto or Manual
There are two modes:

- Auto (recommended) — The kiosk automatically displays items based on the current local time and your Creator daypart configuration. As one daypart ends, the kiosk transitions to the next automatically.
- Manual — You select which specific daypart(s) to display. Only the selected daypart(s) will appear; anything outside them is hidden. When the selected daypart ends, the station closes and does not automatically transition to the next one.
Manual mode is best for single-daypart setups (e.g., a lunch-only station). If your location runs multiple sequential dayparts throughout the day, use Auto to prevent the station from closing unexpectedly when a period ends.
⏰ Auto-Close Behavior
When Kiosk Zero is set to Manual mode for a specific day part, the station automatically closes when that day part ends — customers see a closed state rather than the kiosk transitioning to the next menu period.
If you want the kiosk to close at the end of a day part without shutting down the entire app, enable Block Barcode Scan Only in Manager Mode → Settings → Screen. This closes the ordering UI at day part end while keeping the Kiosk Zero app running in the background.
See Kiosk Zero: Screen & Sleep Settings for the full Block Barcode Scan Only explanation and navigation steps.
🔧 Troubleshooting: Station Not Showing Items
A misconfigured day part is the most common cause of a station appearing blank or missing items on the ordering screen.
Step 1. Check the Day Parts Setting
- Open Manager Mode.
- Go to Settings → Day Parts (in the Checkout Settings section).
- If set to Manual, confirm the correct daypart is selected for the current time period.
- If set to Auto, confirm your Creator daypart time windows are correctly configured and that the current time falls within an active window.
Step 2. Verify Daypart Configuration in Creator
Daypart time windows and item assignments are defined in Creator, not on the kiosk. If a station is still missing items after checking the tablet setting:
- In Creator, confirm the current time falls within a configured daypart window.
- Confirm the affected items are assigned to the active daypart.
- Run a Force Sync on the kiosk (Manager Mode → Settings → Actions → Force Sync) to pull the latest Creator config.
