How the LAVA integration works at Mashgin kiosks — item-level and affiliation discounts, stored value, QR checkout flow, partial refunds, and vendor support.
📋 Overview
Mashgin integrates with LAVA for item-level and affiliation/user-based discounts as well as mobile wallet features (stored value), giving customers a seamless checkout experience at the kiosk.
🛒 Checkout Flow
- Customer places item(s) on the base of the kiosk.
- Customer retrieves their LAVA QR code and scans it on the Side UX scanner.
- The kiosk sends the QR data to LAVA to verify any item-level or affiliation/user-based discounts.
- If the customer has virtual currency in their wallet, they are prompted on-screen to choose whether to complete the transaction using stored value or another preferred payment method.
Important — QR codes: Codes expire and rotate every 30 seconds. Screenshotting a QR code to reuse or share it results in payment rejection or the discount not applying. Always pull a fresh code from the LAVA app.
