How do I refund transactions on the kiosk?

📋 Overview

This guide walks you through issuing a refund on the Mashgin kiosk from Manager Mode. You can refund a transaction in full or select specific items for a partial refund.

⚠️

Before you start: A transaction can only be refunded once. If a partial refund is completed, the remaining items cannot be refunded later. Partial refunds are only supported for FreedomPay, Shift4, and Adyen.

🔧 How to complete the refund

Step 1. Enter Manager Mode

Enter Manager Mode on the kiosk. If you're not sure how to access it, see How do I access kiosk manage mode?

Step 2. Select Transactions

Tap Transactions from the Manager Mode menu.

Step 3. Locate the Transaction

Find the transaction using one of the following methods:

Recent — Scroll through recent transactions

Receipt — Tap Receipt and enter the receipt number

Card Number — Tap Card Number, then enter the first 6 and last 4 digits

Swipe — Tap Swipe, then swipe the customer's card

Step 4. Select the Transaction

Tap the transaction you want to refund.

Step 5. Tap Refund

Tap the Refund button on the transaction detail screen.

Step 6. Choose Refund Type and Confirm

Select your refund type:

Full refund — Refunds the entire transaction amount

Partial refund — Select specific items to refund

Partial refunds are only supported for FreedomPay, Shift4, and Adyen.

Tap Confirm to complete the refund.

💡 Important Notes

A transaction can only be refunded once — full or partial

If a partial refund is completed, the remaining items cannot be refunded later

Partial refunds are only supported for the following payment processors: FreedomPay, Shift4, and Adyen
