How do I resolve a missing network configuration alert?
Resolution steps for the Missing Network Configuration alert — verify network settings, run a Network Test, reconnect to grid, reseat the cable, power cycle, and validate the port.
📋 Overview
The Missing Network Configuration alert appears when the kiosk has not been assigned a valid network configuration — typically a missing or rejected DHCP lease, an incorrect Static IP setup, or a downed link to the local network. Because the kiosk has no working network identity, it can't reach Mashgin's servers, so transactions and item updates won't sync until this is resolved.
The steps below walk through how to clear the alert without escalating. Most cases resolve at Step 1 or Step 2.

🛠️ How to Resolve
Step 1. Check Network Settings and Run a Test
- Navigate to Manager Mode > Advanced > Network
- Verify and confirm Static IP or DHCP settings are correct
- Press Save
- Go to the Network Test tab and run a Test
- If all tests are successful, the alert should clear from the main Manager Mode screen
- If any tests fail, continue to Step 2

For an explanation of what each Network Test is checking, see Understanding the Kiosk Network Test.
Step 2. Attempt to Reconnect to Grid
- Navigate to Manager Mode > Advanced > Reconnect to Grid
- The kiosk will attempt to renew its connection to Mashgin servers
- Success: a green check flashes next to Reconnect to Grid
- Failure: an orange X appears — continue to Step 3

Step 3. Reseat the Ethernet Cable
- Reseat the ethernet cable on the back of the kiosk — unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it back in
- Run a Network Test from Manager Mode > Advanced > Network > Test
Step 4. Power Cycle the Kiosk
Follow the full procedure in How do I power cycle the kiosk?.
- If the alert persists after a full power cycle, continue to Step 5
Step 5. Try a New Ethernet Cable & Check the Port
- Plug a known good CAT6 or CAT5E Ethernet cable into the network port and into the back of the kiosk
- Run a Network Test
- If it still fails, the issue is with the port itself or upstream networking
💡 Tips
The Missing Network Configuration alert and a Kiosk Offline alert share the same root causes — if you've already followed How to Troubleshoot Network, you've done these same steps.
If the same kiosk repeatedly loses its network configuration, the issue is almost always upstream (DHCP server, switch, VLAN). Share the Network Architecture Guide with your IT team to confirm firewall allowlists, DNS, and VLAN requirements, and escalate with a network diagram from trust.mashgin.com.
