How do I export my menu?
Guide on exporting the site’s menu from Creator
📋 Overview
Export your creator menu for things like
- Sharing with another location.
- Handling bulk price adjustments.
What you'll need:
- A Mashgin Cloud/Creator account
- A web browser (Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc.)
- A few minutes of your time
💡 Tip: Save a backup of your export before making any big changes — it's a great safety net.
🚀 How to Export Your Menu
Step 1. Log in to Creator
- Open your web browser and go to creator.mashgin.com
- Enter your email and password, then click Sign In

Step 2. Open Menu Transfer

- Once you're logged in, look at the left-hand sidebar
- Find and click on "Menu Transfer"
- Click “Export Menu”
Menu Transfer is the section where you can export your current menu or import an updated one.
Step 3. Select your desired values

- Select your desired values ( Full value dropdown )
- Click “Download All Items as CSV”
- For locations with stations, press “Download Menu File” to download the current station setup.
Not sure what to select? Name, Price, and UPC are a great starting point for a general menu overview. Below is the breakdown of each value.

Export Checkout Items — Field Descriptions
Field | What it means |
ID | The unique internal number Mashgin assigns to each menu item. |
Name | The item's display name as it appears on the Mashgin kiosk. |
Price | The current selling price of the item. |
UPCs | Universal Product Codes — the barcode number(s) linked to an item for scanning and identification. |
Package Count | How many individual units are in one package (e.g., a 6-pack of water would have a Package Count of 6). |
POS ID | The identifier used to sync this item with an external Point of Sale (POS) system. Example, Micros item ID. |
Day Parts | Time-based availability settings — controls which times of day an item is shown (e.g., breakfast only, lunch only). |
By Weight (0/1) | Whether the item is priced by weight. 1 = sold by weight, 0 = fixed price. |
Global Matches | Whether this item is recognized and matched across multiple Mashgin locations. |
Pose Count | The number of product images or angles Mashgin uses to visually recognize the item. |
Tags | Custom labels you've assigned to items for internal organization or filtering. |
Description | A text description of the item (may appear in certain customer-facing views). |
DotCode Labels | Specialized barcode labels used with certain integrations or label-printing setups. |
Active (0/1) | Whether the item is currently visible and available. 1 = active, 0 = hidden/inactive. |
Schedule | Any scheduled time windows during which the item is available for purchase. |
Calories | The calorie count associated with the item. |
Dietary Tags | Dietary labels such as vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. |
Allergen Tags | Allergen information linked to the item (e.g., contains nuts, dairy, or gluten). |
Custom Item Name | An alternate name for the item used in specific integrations or displays. |
Disable Customer Notes (0/1) | Whether customers can add special instructions to this item at checkout. 1 = notes disabled, 0 = notes allowed. |
Last Sold Time | The date and time this item was most recently sold. |
Created Time | The date and time this item was first added to Creator. |
Updated Time | The date and time this item record was last modified. |
Export Station Menu — Options
Option | What it means |
Container (station) | Select which station(s) to include in the export. Only items assigned to those stations will be exported. |
Keep Mashgin IDs | When enabled, item names stay in sync across multiple sites by preserving Mashgin's internal IDs. Recommended if you manage more than one location. |
Step 4. Open your downloaded file
- Your menu will download as a .csv file (a type of spreadsheet)
- Check your browser's Downloads folder, or look at the bottom of your browser window for the file
- Open it with Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app
That's it! You now have a full copy of your menu ready to review or share.
🛠️ Troubleshooting
I don't see "Menu Transfer" in the sidebar
Issue: The Menu Transfer option is not visible in the left sidebar.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Make sure you are fully logged in to creator.mashgin.com
- Try refreshing your browser page
- Confirm with your manager that your account has the correct permissions
The file won't open or it looks garbled
Issue: The downloaded file won't open or shows strange symbols and text.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Try opening it in Google Sheets: go to sheets.google.com, click File > Import, and select your .csv file
- If using Excel, when prompted, choose "Comma Delimited" as the file type
