What is Menu Mirroring?
Menu Mirroring lets you maintain one primary menu in Creator and have other locations automatically inherit it — plus the trade-offs to consider before turning it on.
📋 Overview
Menu Mirroring is for operators with multiple locations on Creator that should run the exact same menu. One location is set as the primary, and one or more secondary locations mirror its menu — every change made at the primary automatically propagates to the secondaries.

When to use this:
- You manage a chain of locations that all serve the same menu
- You want a single source of truth for prices, taxes, and items
- You want menu edits at HQ to flow out to every site without re-keying

Pros
- One source of truth — edit once at the primary, every secondary updates
- Consistent pricing and items across every site
- Less duplicate work — no need to re-create stations, taxes, or discounts per location
- Faster rollouts — menu changes go live everywhere within minutes
Cons
- No per-location item variations (price, availability, tax) — everything is global
- Mistakes propagate fast — a typo or bad price at the primary instantly affects every secondary
- Hard to roll back — turning mirroring off requires Mashgin Support involvement
If even one location needs a different price, item, tax, or fee, mirroring will fight you. Many operators turn it on, then realize they want flexibility and have to ask support to remove it. Talk through the trade-offs with your team before enabling.
🔎 How do I know if my location is mirroring another?
On a secondary location, look just under the location name in the left sidebar in Creator. You'll see a yellow-orange box that names the primary location it's mirroring. Click that box, and Creator will jump you to the primary location's menu.
The primary location does not show any badge — there's nothing in Creator that says "this location is the source for X other locations." If you need to know which locations mirror which, contact Mashgin Support.
📦 What's actually mirrored?
When mirroring is on, all of these are copied from the primary to every secondary — you cannot edit them at the secondary location:
- Menu Items and item details
- Item Names
- Prices
- ArUco (Dotcode) Associations
- Tags
- Stations
- Taxes
- Discounts
- Price Modes
Location-level settings that are not menu-related (operation hours, day parts, sleep interval, receipt logo, location image) are typically still per-location — confirm with support if you're unsure.
✏️ How to make changes to a mirrored menu
If any of the locations involved are mirrored, all menu edits must happen at the primary location. Trying to edit at a secondary will either be blocked or won't stick after the next sync.
- Switch to the primary location in Creator (use How to Change Locations in Creator if you're not sure how)
- Make your edits as you normally would — items, stations, prices, taxes, etc.
- Wait 1–2 minutes — changes propagate automatically to every secondary
- Spot-check on one secondary's kiosk to confirm the change appeared
🛠️ How do I set up or remove Menu Mirroring?
Menu Mirroring is not self-serve — turning it on or off requires changes to the underlying location relationships in Mashgin's system. Contact 📧 help@mashgin.com with:
- Which location should be the primary
- Which location(s) should be secondary (mirror the primary)
- Whether you're enabling or removing mirroring
- Any items, taxes, or prices that should be migrated as part of the change
Mashgin Support will configure mirroring on the back end and confirm with you when it's live.
