How do I reseat kiosk hood camera cables?
Step-by-step guide for reseating the hood camera USB cables inside the kiosk body when hood cameras are missing or not detected.
This guide walks you through reseating the hood camera USB cables inside the kiosk body β typically needed when one or more hood cameras are missing after a power cycle.
This procedure requires opening the back of the kiosk. Do not attempt while the kiosk is powered on or plugged in.
π Steps
Step 1. Shut Down and Unplug the Kiosk
- Navigate to Manager Mode β Advanced β Shutdown
- Wait for the circular power button on the back of the kiosk to go dark
- Unplug the power cable from the back of the kiosk

Do not open the back plate until the power cable is unplugged. The kiosk must be fully powered off and unplugged before proceeding.
Step 2. Remove the Back Plate
Remove the six screws securing the back plate to the kiosk body. Set the screws aside in a safe place, then carefully lift the back plate off.

Step 3. Reseat the Hood Camera USB Cables
With the back plate removed, locate the USB cables connected to the top of the MPU (the main processing unit inside the kiosk). The hood camera cables are the USB connections running from the cameras down into the MPU.
- Unplug each USB cable from its port
- Wait 3β5 seconds
- Firmly plug each cable back in to the same port
If you are unsure which cables belong to the hood cameras, reseat all USB connections at the top of the MPU β just make sure each cable goes back into the same port it came from.

Step 4. Replace the Back Plate
Place the back plate back onto the kiosk and secure it with the six screws. Make sure the plate sits flush before tightening.
Step 5. Power On and Verify
- Plug the power cable back into the back of the kiosk
- Press the circular power button to turn the kiosk on
- Once fully booted, navigate to Manager Mode β Advanced β Cams
- Confirm all hood camera feeds are now visible
If hood cameras are still missing after reseating, contact Mashgin Support β the cable or camera may need to be replaced on-site.
